Gail was elected to serve as President for 2021-2023.  She previously served as the Secretary of the Bear Creek Genealogical Society, now the West Houston Area Genealogy Society, since January 2018, after joining the Society in September 2017. She holds a certificate in Genealogical Research from Boston University and has attended the Institute of Genealogical and Historical Research (IGHR) in Athens, Georgia since 2017, focusing on DNA research and has completed an online, DNA Advanced Practicum through the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy (SLIG).

Growing up as a child of a career Naval Officer, Gail spent her youth moving up and down the east coast. This fostered an interest in history. Like many children, she never knew her family history and became interested after visiting her mother’s hometown, East Hampton, New York. During that visit, Gail’s Uncle Charlie informed her that she should smile at everyone she saw as she was related to them. This sparked an interest that would grow. Sadly, with the loss of the older generations, Gail’s research turned to Ancestry when they came online in the early 2000s. She has broadened her genealogical research to include her husband’s family to resolve the mystery of the origins of the original immigrant Ancestor, William James Teddlie.

Gail has two adult children and six grandchildren in the Houston area and enjoys sharing the family history so they can pass it along. She looks forward to growing the current Society into a resource for all folks interested in pursuing their past.
